Journeys of PearlHeart: PearlHeart Book 1
Alliance: The agreement between Sudines, Campi, Delphy, Pantrog, Cunica, Ullia, Lotinx, Selachuu, Butej, Unys, Pertes, Phoenae, Haliae, and recently Pantha to work together and support each other's countries. Representatives from each country are sent to the Council on Phoenae to discuss matters. Daerce and Draconi are unique members as protected states and do not send a councilperson. The councilpeople of Unys and Butej only appear for one meeting each year.
Amara: The Elder Goddess of Unys who guides her Amaran Knights. Her other form is a unicorn and her god color is white. Her traits allow her own to communicate with their unicorn partners and create objects out of white light. 4049 years old.
Ara: The Elder God of Draconi and previous Ruler of the Second World. His other form is a dragon and his god color is deep blue. His traits allow his own to have extremely high body temperatures which can burn many items by only touching them. 3049 years old.
Azalea: Rath's grandmother, who has many gardens on her island. From Sudines and carries Hep's Traits. Raised Rath with Carlos since he was four years old. Has been awake for 72 years, but has been alive for 924 years.
Belle: The God of Selachuu who helps guide the Selachuu Military. His other form is a shark and his god color is gray-blue. His traits allow his own to breathe underwater and sense those around them, including what traits they have. 2049 years old.
Berceuse: The God of Oct. Previously lived on the Isles of Oct, but is now unsure of where they will be. His other form is an octopus and his god color is purple. He has no traits and does not have any humans under his protection. 2049 years old.
Beren: Part of the Pantha population living on Pantrog who is excited about the crowning of King Faerohr. Had issues with his neck that Carlos helped him with. From Pantha, carrying both Lionel and Forte's Traits. 28 years old.
Berkut: Captain in the Selachuu Military stationed at Renet Island. From Selachuu, carrying both Belle and Merp's Traits. 27 years old.
Bucket-Pagu: Infirmary Helper of PearlHeart, starting midway through their fifth journey. From Pagu Island and wears green. 4049 years old.
Campi: A small country in the south where Penelope's Fresh Water Lagoon is. Tropical climate. Known for the artist and craft-making population. Penelope protects the land, seahorses, and people who live there.
Carlos: Doctor of PearlHeart and Rath's personal doctor. From Pertes, carrying both Sevran and Hep's Traits. Close friends with Azalea and raised Rath alongside her. Has been awake for 72 years, but alive for 747 years.
Cave-Pagu: A Pagu who lived on the Isles of Oct, but now lives on Pagu Island. From Pagu Island and wears dark red. 4049 years old.
Charles: Sailor of PearlHeart. From Cunica, carrying both Rella and Helios' Traits. Lives with a small rabbit family in the countryside of Cunica. Related to the line of Rella's First. 30 years old.
Charon: The Councilman of Lotinx and from the line of Helios' First. Estival's father. From Lotinx, carrying Helios' Traits. 60 years old.
Cherin: One of Isaac's younger brothers. Twins with Meira. From Pantrog and carries Vocalise's Traits. 16 years old.
Cunica: A country in the south known for its fertile soil. Most people live on farmsteads away from one another. Follows the seasons in their traditional manner. Rella protects the land, rabbits, and people who live there. PearlHeart goes to Port Telma there, where they meet Pelline and Vern.
Draconi: A very old large country far to the north, originating in the Second World. Used to celebrate all seasons, but recently known for its snow. Ara protects the land, dragons, and people who live there.
Delphaen Trade Route: A wide strait between Delphy and Cunica where ships of all kinds travel.
Delphy: A tropical country in the South and Rath's homeland. There are many waterways that people swim and sail through. Marchand protects the land, dolphins, and people who live there.
East: One of Ara's Dragon Guardians. Fond of Spring. 3049 years old.
Eben: A vendor at the Xiphi Races who sells a board game to Rath. From Ursi and carries Forte's Traits. 56 years old.
Elvin: The God of Haliae who came up with the idea for the Alliance. Currently trying to improve relations with Pantha. His other form is a giant eagle and his god color is light blue. His traits allow his people to have brilliant eyesight and the abililty to communicate with their eagle partners, no matter what distance. 2049 years old.
Erole: The God of Ullia, who sets tasks for the Ullian Spies to accomplish. Always eager for more information. His other form is a giant eel and his god color is pale yellow. His traits allow his people to breathe underwater and use electrical pulses to sense the geography around them, including the people in contact with it. 2049 years old.
Evera and Garnet Wisdom: Amaran knights and friends of Sir Rif and Amethyst Rose who were stationed on Renet Island before the Selachuu Military returned. From Unys and carry Amara's Traits. Both are 25 years old.
Evermore: Ullian spy of PearlHeart, tasked with sensing anyone aboard who is not supposed to be. From Ullia and carries Erole's Traits. Has not seen his mother in a very long time and did not meet his father. 27 years old.
Faerohr: The current King of Pantha who helped Pantha join the Alliance. Not of the line of Lionel's First, but accepted as king when he defeated everyone who came to the Coliseum. From Pantha and carries Lionel's Traits. 26 years old.
Farbourne: Captain in the Selachuu Military stationed at the Southern Selachuu Military Base. From Selachuu, carrying both Belle and Vocalise's Traits. 29 years old.
Farrow: A sailor who applied to be first mate on PearlHeart, but did not gain the position. From Pantrog and carries Vocalise's Traits. 25 years old.
Feather-Pagu: A Pagu who lived on the Isles of Oct, but now lives on Pagu Island. From Pagu Island and wears orange. 4049 years old.
Felix and Triphonius: Paradi messengers of PearlHeart. From Paradi, carrying both Oracle and Vocalise's Traits. Felix's bird partner, Triphonius, loves races and competition. Both are 27 years old.
Fenrir: The former first mate and navigator of PearlHeart, currently the Councilman of Sudines after succeeding his father, Fevrier. From Sudines, carrying Hep's Traits. Has been awake for 27 years, but has been alive for 427.
Fierce: The God of Butej who guides the Butej Guard. With Belle's help, he found Rath when he went missing eleven years ago. His other form is a giant hawk and his god color is brown-red. His traits allow his people to direct the flow of the wind. 2049 years old.
Fleiche: Part of the Pantha population living on Pantrog who is excited about the crowning of King Faerohr. Had issues with his upper arm that Carlos helped with. From Pantha and carries Lionel's Traits. 30 years old.
Flora: Azalea's maid who lives on her island as part of her staff. From Sudines and carries Hep's Traits. Has been awake for 27 years, but has been alive for 427.
Flower-Pagu: Galley helper of PearlHeart, starting midway through their fifth journey. From Pagu Island and wears pink. 4049 years old.
Fountain-Pagu: A Pagu who lives in Phoenae with Merp. From Pagu Island and wears yellow. 4049 years old.
Franz: Helmsman of PearlHeart, who joined in the first year. From Delphy, carrying Marchand's Traits. Has many relatives and used to be part of the Delphaen Relay. Neighbors and childhood friends with Velt. 28 years old.
Frost Flowers: Delicate-looking flowers with five transluscent petals that seem to be made out of ice. Made by Ara with Flower-Pagu's help for his wife, North. He has tended to them in their garden behind his cathedral since she disappeared.
Garreth: Rath's grandfather and the former Councilman of Delphy. From Delphy and carries Marchand's Traits. Tasked with approving marriage announcements between those of mixed race to those related to people in the Council. 72 years old.
Georgio: Rath's father and the Councilman of Delphy. From Delphy, carrying both Marchand and Hep's Traits. Plays the violin. 47 years old.
Grist: A country known for its many forges. Otherwise covered in dense forests. Humid climate. Polly protects the land, tigers, and people who live there. PearlHeart passes the country on their way to Lotinx.
Hailcorn and Fritz: The Councilman of Haliae and his eagle partner. Had to stay on Pica Pica during Ara's Storm and correspond with the Council via letter. Sven's father. From Haliae and carries Elvin's Traits. 50 years old.
Haliae: A small country to the north and the home of Elvin's Peak. Has strong winds and can have harsh Winters. Elvin protects the land, eagles, and people who live there. PearlHeart goes to Port Efrin there.
Heiran: Isaac's father and a retired Pan ship captain. From Pantrog and carries Vocalise's Traits. 52 years old.
Helios: The God of Lotinx, who often paints images from their memory. Their other form is an elephant and their god color is light orange. Their traits allow their people to have excellent memories and show visual pictures of them to others. 2049 years old.
Hep: The God of Sudines who met PearlHeart after the windstorm when he was checking on his turtles during their migration. His other form is a giant turtle and his god color is dark green. His traits allow his people to shorten their naturally long lifespans and be sensitive to spiritual energy. 2049 years old.
Heylin: The former Councilwoman of Phoenae and Prillek's mother. Prefers to uphold tradition. From Phoenae and carries Merp's Traits. 77 years old.
Isles of Oct: The home of Berceuse and many of his dear ones, the Pagu. Was hidden in the ocean to the west of Pantha until PearlHeart arrived. Berceuse protects the land and octopuses who live there.
Isaac: Sail-master of PearlHeart who just joined in their fifth year. From Pantrog and carries Vocalise's Traits. Been friend with Rath since before he was a captain. Has a large family, with two older brothers who are also sailors. 26 years old.
Isel: Isaac's youngest sister. From Pantrog and carries Vocalise's Traits. 2 years old.
Isis and Micah: The Councilwoman of Paradi and her bird partner, from the line of Oracle's First. Intent on helping the Paradi Message System. From Paradi, carrying Oracle's Traits. 50 years old.
Krir: An orphan raised by both Niven and Ara and the next in line to be the caretaker of Ara's Cathedral. Niven is his mentor. Wants to learn more about the world outside of Draconi. From Draconi and carries Ara's Traits. 26 years old.
Lady Azalea's Island: A small island in the ocean to the southwest where Rath grew up with Azalea, her staff, and Carlos. Marchand and Belle gifted Azalea the island, which is considered part of Delphy, and has a similar tropical climate.
Lane: The Councilman of Selachuu and a Selachuu Military General. Not from the line of Belle's First, but filling in for Councilman Perraine, who went missing. From Selachuu, carrying Belle's Traits. 38 years old.
Larox: Captain of the Pan ship HighTree. Rath was formerly his first mate. From Pantrog, carrying both Vocalise and Rella's Traits. 30 years old.
Leaf-Pagu: A Pagu who lives on Pagu Island. Wears light green. 4049 years old.
Liette: The Goddess of Pica Pica who has fun with her country's daily celebrations. Her other form is a giant magpie and her god color is turquoise. Her traits allow her people to walk on air and create platforms for objects and people to interact with. 2049 years old.
Lin: A sailor who applied to be first mate on PearlHeart, but broke his foot and was unable to. Later becomes the captain of TellTale and helps PearlHeart make deliveries to Pica Pica during Ara's Storm. From Pantrog, carrying Vocalise and Belle's Traits. 26 years old.
Lionel: The God of Pantha, which holds Coliseum bouts each month to celebrate the food gathered that month. He did not want Pantha to join the Alliance. His other form is a lion and his god color is blue. His traits allow his people to see in the dark and have high endurance. 2049 years old.
Lunra and Awakening Turquoise: Amaran knights currently at Castle Unys and who greet Oracle when she visits. From Unys and carry Amara's Traits. Both are 27 years old.
Lotinx: A country far to the south known for its rock quarries. Temperate climate. Helios protects the land, elephants, and people who live there. PearlHeart goes to Derinian Port, where they meet Estival to pick up the ink and paper for Elvin.
Marchand: The God of Delphy who helps create the Delphaen Celebration during the holiday which is known for its beauty. His other form is a dolphin and his god color is blue-green. His traits allow his people to breathe underwater and send Delphaen messages with their Delphaen tattoos. 2049 years old.
Marcia: The Councilwoman of Campi and from the line of Penelope's First. Errs on the side of caution. From Campi, carrying Penelope's Traits. 32 years old.
Marin: Rath's mother and an artist. From Campi, carrying Penelope and Fierce's Traits. Also skilled at embroidery. 47 years old.
Maro: The God of Tecla who owns a small plant shop and currently building a rock garden. His other form is a giant lizard and his god color is red-orange. His traits allow his people to shape rock. 2049 years old.
Mars: Part of the Pantha population living on Pantrog who is excited about the crowning of King Faerohr. Broke his leg when he fell off a roof, but Carlos helped heal it. From Pantha, carrying Lionel's Traits. 30 years old.
Mehr and Felidan: Paradi messengers on Lady Azalea's Island. From Paradi, carrying both Oracle and Polly's Traits. Both are 38 years old.
Mehrin plants: Plants from Cunica that Azalea asked to be brought to her island during PearlHeart's fifth journey. They began the South Garden.
Meira: One of Isaac's younger brothers. Twins with Cherin. From Pantrog and carries Vocalise's Traits. 16 years old.
Meka plants: Hardy desert plants from Tecla that Rath chose to bring to his grandmother's island during PearlHeart's sixth journey.
Melody and Demeter: Paradi messengers of PearlHeart. From Paradi, carrying both Oracle and Polly's Traits. Both are musically talented and sing while Melody also plays the harp. Both are 27 years old.
Merp: The Elder God of Phoenae and current Ruler of the Fourth World. Dislikes change. His other form is a golden phoenix and his god color is gold. His traits allow his people to create golden flames. 1049 years old.
Moss-Pagu: A Pagu who lived on the Isles of Oct, but now lives on Pagu Island. From Pagu Island and wears dark green. 4049 years old.
Nari: Isaac's older brother and a navigator on Pan ships. From Pantrog and carries Vocalise's Traits. 28 years old.
Nex: The Councilman of Pantrog and from the line of Vocalise's First. Generally laid back. From Pantrog and carries Vocalise's Traits. 48 years old.
Niven: The current caretaker of Ara's Cathedral and Krir's mentor. From Draconi and carries Ara's Traits. 60 years old.
North: One of Ara's Dragon Guardians and married to Ara. Fond of Winter. Disappeared in the year 1000 due to no longer having enough energy to manifest. 3049 years old.
Mevrin: Isaac's oldest brother and a first mate on Pan ships. From Pantrog and carries Vocalise's Traits. 30 years old.
One-Eye: First mate of PearlHeart, starting midway through their fifth journey. From Pantha, carrying both Lionel and Sevran's Traits. Spent eight years in the Selachuu Prisons for piracy. Bonded with his Spirit Lion since birth. 28 years old.
Oracle: The Goddess of Paradi who creates the rainbow seen every morning on her country. Wishes to connect with her family more. Her other form is a giant rainbow bird and her god color is magenta. Her traits allow her people to communicate with their bird partner, no matter what distance. 2049 years old.
Oren: Helmsman of PearlHeart. From Pantrog, carrying both Vocalise and Belle's Traits. Lives alone out in the country on Pantrog. 29 years old.
Pagu Island: A small island to the southwest where the majority of the Pagu live. Permission is required to visit.
Pantha: A large country in the north with tall mountains and long valleys. Pantha Castle and the Coliseum–where royals prove their strength–reside there. Recently the Winters have gotten worse. Lionel protects the land, lions, and people who live there.
Pantha Flower: Bright orange flowers that love sunlight which were created by Lionel with Flower-Pagu's help. The ones on Lady Azalea's Island are the last in the world.
Pantrog: A small country in the South known for its Pan ships, large trees, and people who race over the rooftops. Humid climate with monsoons in the Summer. Vocalise protects the land, chimpanzees, and people who live there. PearlHeart goes to Port Palla there, where Rath meets One-Eye. Isaac's family lives near Tikari Port, a wealthier district.
Paradi: A country in the south surrounded in mist that becomes rainbows each morning. Has a tall mountain in the center with a large waterfall running down it. Oracle protects the land, Paradi birds, and people who live there.
Pebble-Pagu: A Pagu who lives on Lady Azalea's Island. From Pagu Island and wears brown. 4049 years old.
Pelline: Phillip's nan and the owner of a farm on Cunica. Lives with a small rabbit family. From Cunica and carries Rella's Traits. 76 years old.
Penelope: The Goddess of Campi who sometimes struggles to leave her country. She teaches swim classes to her people. Her other form is a seahorse and her god color is orange-pink. Her traits allow her people to purify water. 2049 years old.
Perri: Sailor of PearlHeart, working on the lines who just joined in their fifth year. From Delphy, carrying Marchand, Forte, and Oracle's Traits. Large extended family under many different gods. 26 years old.
Petal-Pagu: A Pagu who lived on the Isles of Oct, but now lives on Pagu Island. From Pagu Island and wears light pink. 4049 years old.
Phillip: Cook of PearlHeart. From Cunica and carries Rella's Traits. Has a home on Cunica with his nan, Pelline, and the rabbit family that also live there. Bonded with his Spirit Rabbit since birth. 28 years old.
Pica Pica: A small country in the north where parties are always occuring. Has many tall buildings and Liette's Clock Tower. Temperate climate. Liette protects the land, magpies, and people who live there.
Phoenae: A floating country over the Phoenae Sea where the Council Building resides. Always hot. Merp protects the land, phoenix, and people who live there.
Phoenae Sea: An area beneath Phoenae known for its year-round storms.
Polly: The Goddess of Grist, who often keeps to herself. Her other form is a tiger and her god color is dark orange. Her traits allow her people to have fire and resistance as well as create paths of light. 2049 years old.
Prillek: The Councilman of Phoenae and from the line of Merp's First. Dislikes change. From Phoenae, carrying Merp's Traits. 50 years old.
Ran: The God of Xiphi who runs the Xiphi Races every year. Competitive and proud of his skill with his traits. His other form is a swordfish and his god color is dark blue-green. His traits allow his people to travel quickly in dark blue-green streaks across any surface. 2049 years old.
Rath: Captain of PearlHeart. From Delphy, but raised on his grandmother's island. Would have succeeded his father as the Councilman of Delphy if he had not lost his traits when he was sixteen. Did not get to see his parents a great deal growing up due to Merp disapproving of their marriage. 27 years old.
Rella: The Goddess of Cunica who takes her country's harvest very seriously. Her other form is a rabbit and her god color is light green. Her traits allow her people to help plants grow. 2049 years old.
Renet Island: An island that was part of Selachuu, but moved to its current location by Belle. Has a small set of Phoenae airship docks. Captain Berkut is stationed at the Selachuu Military fort there and performs customs for PearlHeart.
Rif and Amethyst Rose: Amaran Knights tasked with filling in the role of customs officers at Port Telma on Cunica. From Unys and carry Amara's Traits. Both are 26 years old.
Rittel: The Councilman of Ullia and Lead Spy of the Ullian Spies. Often quiet, only listening. From Ullia, carrying Erole's Traits. 45 years old.
River-Pagu: A Pagu who lived on the Isles of Oct, but now lives on Pagu Island. A very talented doctor. From Pagu Island and wears turquoise. 4049 years old.
Ronan and Opal Starlight: Champions of Lady Amara's One Hundred Knights currently tasked with warning ships about the dangers of the North. From Unys and carry Amara's Traits. Both are 27 years old.
Sevran: The Goddess of Pertes as well as Ara and North's daughter. Very business-minded and lives among her people as another merchant. Her other form is a snake and her god color is yellow. Her traits allow her people to have high constitutions, determine ailments, and heal others. 2049 years old.
Seyline: Dockmaster at Leighran Port who hired One-Eye to work as a customs officer during the Winter. From Delphy, carrying both Marchand and Vocalise's Traits. 52 years old.
Sophia: Isaac's little sister. Her siblings think she will become a captain of a Pan ship one day. From Pantrog and carries Vocalise's Traits. 8 years old.
Sophie: The Councilwoman of Cunica and from the line of Rella's First. Very pragmatic. From Cunica, carrying Rella's Traits. 37 old.
South: One of Ara's Dragon Guardians. Fond of Summer. 3049 years old.
Southern Selachuu Military Base: A large base on the border between Daerce and Pantha. PearlHeart checks in for customs there. Captain Farbourne is stationed there and later, Sir Ronan and Opal Starlight stay there as well.
Sven and Pema: Next in line to be the Councilman of Haliae and his eagle partner. Childhood friend of Rath's. Helped direct the delivery to Haliae in his father Hailcorn and his eagle partner Fritz's absence. From Haliae and carries Elvin's Traits. 26 years old.
Sverellin: Officer in the Phoenae Force stationed at the Phoenae Airships Docks at Port Pallas on Pantrog. 52 years old.
Tecla: A quiet country to the south that is also the home of Maro's Library, considered to be the largest in the world. Arid climate perfect for desert plants. Maro protects the land, lizards, and people who live there. PearlHeart goes to Port Paka, where Maro's plant shop is on Pern Street.
Tol: Part of the Pantha population living on Pantrog who is excited about the crowning of King Faerohr. Had issues with shin splints that Carlos helped with. From Pantha and carries Lionel's Traits. 29 years old.
Vann: Velt's sister, who works at their family's ship repair shop on Delphy. From Delphy, carrying both Marchand and Belle's Traits. 32 years old.
Velt: Sailor of PearlHeart, who joined in the first year. From Delphy, carrying both Marchand and Belle's Traits. Her family owns a ship repair shop on Delphy. Neighbors and childhood friends with Franz. 28 years old.
Venti: The Councilman of Pertes and from the line of Sevran's First. Concerned with economics. From Pertes, carrying Sevran's Traits. 47 years old.
Verletta: Isaac's mother and talented cook. From Pantrog and carries Vocalise's Traits. 50 years old.
Vern: A farmer on Cunica that brings provisions for PearlHeart to take to Haliae. Neighbors with Pelline. From Cunica, carrying Rella and Belle's Traits. 77 years old.
Vocalise: The God of Pantrog who invented Pan ships. Tends to not appear for long periods of time. His other form is a giant chimpanzee and his god color is orange. His traits allow his people to maintain their balance so they never slip. 2049 years old.
Unys: A country surrounded by a thick fog and home of the Amaran Knights, who reside in Castle Unys. Originally from the Second World Amara protects the land, unicorn partners, and people who live there.
Wagon-Pagu: A Pagu who lives in Draconi with Ara. From Pagu Island and wears dark blue. 4049 years old.
Well-Pagu: Navigator of PearlHeart, starting midway through their fifth journey. From Pagu Island and wears purple. 4049 years old.
West: One of Ara's Dragon Guardians. Fond of Fall. 3049 years old.

Xiphi: Three small isles where the Xiphi Races are held each year. Tropical climate. Ran protects the land, swordfishes, and people who live there.
